The Holy Spirit, The Helper

But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. Why is the Holy Spirit so Misunderstood?

 

The Devil

He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. – John 8:44 (NLT)

 

Jesus

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. – John 14:6 (NLT)

 

Holy Spirit

When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future. – John 16:13 (NLT)

 

The Hebrew word for Spirit: (RU’ACH – “ruwach”)) – a wind, breath, a violent exhalation, blast of breath

 

The Greek word for Spirit: (PNEUMA – “nu-mah”) – a current of air, blast of breath, strong breeze

 

The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. – John 6:63 (NKJV)

 

 

  1. Wind is UNSEEN

16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. – John 14:16-17 (NIV)

 

  1. Wind is UNPREDICTABLE

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8 (NIV)

 

The Person – Who He is (CONSISTENT)

The Function – What He does (UNPREDICTABLE)

 

  1. Wind is POWERFUL

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 (NIV)

  1. Wind is REFRESHING

Don’t grieve God. Don’t break His heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted. – Ephesians 4:30 (MSG)
