We all have had that moment when we look at our closets and say “I have nothing to wear.” Of course, there clearly a full closet of clothes sitting in front of us, but still we see nothing. I can’t even count how many times I have tried to pull a fast one on my husband, hoping I’d get a shopping trip! After a few tries and not getting that quick run to Nordstrom I learned I have to come up with something! I used to see a bunch of old clothes but now I've learned to see it as a pile of potential!
Girls! I started prophesying to those piles of clothes to come alive! But really isn't that how we look at ourselves sometimes? Sometimes we get up every morning and see ourselves as average, as out of date, as over-worn. Then naturally, we run out and try to find a quick fix fulfillment instead of seeing God use what we already have. At Unearthed this week Pastor Lissette revealed the power of potential. She taught us how to see the potential in everything. Although it's difficult to change our mindset, it's essential to us experiencing all that God has for us!
Let's make it our prayer today to not see what was, but to see what can become. When you look in the mirror, ask God to help you see potential! We have to see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made [Psalms 139:14], that God has a future for us that is filled with hope. [Jeremiah 29:11]. We are accepted in the beloved, we are loved, [Ephesians 1:6]. No matter what you believe at times know this: YOU HAVE POTENTIAL!
