Have you ever watched the movie “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas?” I was reminded as I watched this the other day that I used to tell my son that his heart would shrink like the Grinch when he got angry. I know, I know “bad mom award”. Hey it worked! As I watched, I saw that the whole movie was about someone who was hurt and was out to seek revenge on not just those who hurt him but the whole town of Whoville. I believe this happens to a lot of us, as we go through life we experience hurt and pain. But we have a choice to learn and grow or to stay there and isolate from everyone. This week at our Fashion study, we heard a message on hurt and how Joseph chose to deal with it. He came face to face with those who did him wrong and he passed the test. Was it difficult? Yes! Was it easy to forgive? No! Was the reward of forgiveness great? Of course!
“And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them and I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 11:19
The Grinch had to allow himself to feel and be loved again. He had to soften his heart and forgive. It was only then that he could experience all that life was waiting to give him. I loved the “Rope of Hope” illustration that we tied together because it represented how important it is to stay connected. We shared our hearts with other women who have experienced the same. We cried and we were able to let go of what has held us back for so long. Don’t allow the hurt of yesterday to affect the future God wants to give you. Allow yourself to feel, to trust, to love, and to forgive those who have hurt you. The reward is far greater than the prison we’ve kept ourselves in. As you go through your week, keep this in mind: “hurt people, hurt people” but “healed people, heal people.”
What an amazing week it was at Fashion! We've seen so much growth, as God continues to unearth hidden treasures in our lives! We hope that you will keep being a part of journeying with the girls!
