Hey Google...

I’ve made a reputation for myself of being a Google master. There have been several occasions with co-workers, my kids, friends or family have been curious about a random topic I tell them to “Google it.” They type in their question and search and search but end up frustrated that Google didn’t find what they were looking for. I will go on there and find it within a few minutes of my search, to their amazement and more often to their frustration I give them the answer they tried to find seemingly effortlessly. No I’m not a certified geek using codes and algorithms to get the answer, I’m asking the right questions to get what I need. We could waste an entire day on Google if we continue to ask the wrong questions. This is also true in our prayer life, we can pray our entire lives away asking the wrong questions and blaming God for not answering them.

We can see Jesus reminding us of this fact in John 9:3 Jesus said, “You’re asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. (Message Version) That verse speaks volumes to asking the right questions, Jesus was referring to the man born blind and the disciples were caught up in trying to figure out who’s sin had caused his blindness. Jesus reminds us that everything happens for a reason and that we should be searching for God in everything, even our disappointments, setbacks and infirmities.

Let’s make a vow to pray and ask God for wisdom so we can be sure we ask the right questions in our prayer time. We will get the answers we’re looking for when we get down on our knees and ask the right questions with an open heart full of hope, believing God will come through in His perfect timing. God is way better than Google!
